Crocodiles are the stuff of nightmares. They can swim up to 25mph just with their tails; they can leap out of the water; they can run, and their eyes bubble and froth when they eat, hence the term ‘crocodile tears’, which has nothing to do with remorse. For those of us who read or saw Peter Pan, the crocodile invaded our dreams from an early age, relentlessly stalking Captain Hook: our knitted version is comparatively cuddly.
